What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

I have a top finished for Carolina chain. I have had piles of projects just needing a little help to get them ready for quilting. This one I used as my away project only. Eventually, it reached a stage I just wanted to finish it.

I did the top 5 rows of carolina chain earlier. and now, I have assembled the bottom 5 rows. They are the easiest and shortest so of course, I wanted to do them first.

I have been using easy breezy 1 1/2 inch squares for the leader/ender project this week. I am having more trouble picking out of a bag of 1 1 ...

It is time to move Carolina chain along to the next step. I cut the setting triangles from scrappy blues.

 I have been working for some time on Carolina chain blocks. I use them as a back up portable project. That makes it difficult to know just where I stand on this project with a little here and a little there. I counted the light squares the end of March here. I cut more of what I thought I needed. I have taken some time to count the dark chains, and, I have enough. It is time to start joining a few squares together.

I cut this Bonnie hunter quilt out in 2017 after her book came out -addicted to scraps. There were a lot of pieces to cut. I have used Carolina chain as a back up project when I go to a sewing event. In case, my main project gets too tedious or finished before I want to go home, I pull these mindless pieces out and sew on them.  I kept kits in baggies, and, the baggies are, finally, starting to empty. I have finished up all of my Jingle Bell Square blocks! I needed to make 6 additional green blocks and 4 additional red blocks to bring me to the 49 total blocks that I needed for the quilt.

We had a visitor to our little Friday quilt group. She had made these little fabric star ornaments for each of the guild members for our Christmas meeting. We were all thrilled. When she made a visit with us she taught us how to make them.  I could follow along with her and made mine, but, I don't think I could do it again on my own.

In the month of December, I was using my Jingle Bell Square blocks and block parts as leaders-and-enders for my Frolic unit sewing and my "I only have 15 minutes to sew" project. Now that it is the new year, I decided to pack up this project temporarily to clean up my sewing space slightly.

I have the baskets quilt in to 2 pieces.  One more seam and it will be a top. Then, I will need to make finishing decisions. More here and Here and here is about my project.

I like to make at least one sand castle block each morning before I decide what else needs my attention. They are built a little differently and I like it being different. When I cut my strips into sets of squares and hsts, I figured I would need 64 and I have basically 7 colors so I would need about 9 strips of each color. I have 2 1/2 inch strips sorted by color, so finding them was easy. I find that since I cut them that way, I make them in a color grouping. Here are 4 new ...

Since I have my Island Batik Ambassador project done for the month (but make sure to enter the giveaway!) I decided that I should try to make a push on some of my WIPs before the end of the year.

I have a corner of garden party together. I am very thrilled with how it looks. That is why I am a scrappy quilter. I love how a quilt with disparate fabrics can look like they were meant to be together. If I wax philosophical, that is how great human relationships are created. Enough, deep thinking, scrappy quilts are just fun.  I started sewing this quilt 6 months ago, and I have made great progress.

I have started putting the rows together for the quiltville garden party quilt. It is set on point, so, some rows go together quickly, and, some take forever. But, each row is so fun. I haven't laid it out, I just grab a block that looks good with the ones in the row, and add it. I try to mix my favorites, and keep an eye for the uglies. I started sewing this quilt 6 months ago, and I have made great progress.

It's November and time for a new one monthly goal. Yesterday, I blogged about finishing all the blocks for my October goal. For the month of November, I want to arrange my swap basket blocks into a top. I could set them block to block...

I have made 81 chain blocks for my garden party quilt. I really like looking at them like this. The stacks look impressive. It takes a bit of time to make these, and eventually they will be part of a quilt.
Now, I need to trim these and start the setting triangles.

It's finally time to trim my garden party blocks since they are all done. It seems that no matter how I try to be accurate, I have a bit to trim. It doesn't take much extra to throw me off when I assemble. I would prefer to fudge more by not trimming, where I could line the pieces up even if they are not exactly right, but I have trouble with that.
